Palm Desert Real Estate for Sale
"The desert's cultural, shopping and education center"

Palm Desert, a major destination resort community of some 44,000 population, features the finest in golf courses and tennis facilities. Its residents also enjoy:

  • A high standard of living;
  • The only community college campus in the Valley--the College of the Desert, part of the California State Community College system;
  • The new Coachella Valley Campus of California State University at San Bernardino;
  • A premier center for the performing arts--the McCallum Theater;
  • Some of the finest up-scale boutique shopping along the famous El Paseo, "the Rodeo Drive of the desert," which also features many exclusive art galleries;
  • The Living Desert Museum; and
  • Some of the most popular private country clubs, such as Indian Ridge, Palm Valley, Ironwood, Desert horizons, and the exclusive clubs at Big Horn, and The Vintage, to name a few.

Retail outlets in Palm Desert have more than doubled in the last ten years and features several super stores such as Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Robinson-May, Staples and Costco. In addition to El Paseo's boutiques, there is the Westfield Shoppingtown Palm Desert, an enclosed and air conditioned shopping mall.

The average 2004 home/condo price in Palm Desert was around $415,000. Future expansion of the city's borders may be accomplished by annexing the communities of Del Webb's Sun City, a large retirement development, and Thousand Palms, an unincorporated community of some 6,000 residents with generally lower housing prices than Palm Desert. Both communities hope such annexation will occur soon.
