The Coachella Valley encompasses nine incorporated cities and several unincorporated communities in eastern Riverside County, California. Included are Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, and Desert Hot Springs-all incorporated cities-as well as Thousand Palms and Bermuda Dunes, which are unincorporated communities. In all, there are well over 100 golf courses in the Valley.

The year 2003 was marked by "eye-popping" growth in the Coachella Valley housing market, which far outpaced growth in any other region in Southern California! The Coachella Valley has enjoyed a housing boom since 1999, unlike any before in it's history. The east valley, where there was more open space for development, is showing the most growth and is selling three out of four homes in the valley! Building permits were even higher than the record-breaking year of 2004. The average price for a new home in East Riverside County (including the Coachella Valley) rose to a mind-boggling $444,714, according to MarketPointe Realty Advisors, requiring a qualifying income of $84,017. Economic forecasts predict a 15 to 20 percent increase in prices for 2005.

According to statistics from the local Association of Realtors, during 2004 the average three bedroom dwelling sold for $480,307, while the average two bedroom condo price rose to $307,029, valley-wide.
